Venue

The Congress will take place at the centre of Mercy in Vilnius, on the Saviour Hill, a site where works of mercy have been carried out since the 17th century. Here once lived and prayed the Sisters of Charity, the Visitandine Sisters, and other missionary religious. They founded a hospital and cared for the sick and the poor. During the Soviet occupation, the Visitandine convent complex became a symbol of suffering – it was turned into a prison. It was in this very place that the first image of the Merciful Jesus was painted between the wars. Based on St. Faustina’s visions, artist Eugeniusz Kazimirowski captured the message of Divine Mercy on canvas. Today, the Sisters of the Merciful Jesus live on the Saviour Hill, running a hospice that provides care for the seriously ill and the dying.
