11 Things Worth Knowing Before Coming to Vilnius

The World Apostolic Congress on Mercy will be a unique opportunity to discover not only the message of Divine Mercy, but also the city of Vilnius itself: where the paths of Blessed Fr. Michał Sopoćko and St. Faustina Kowalska crossed, and where the original image of the Divine Mercy is preserved.

Although the afternoon activities offer many opportunities to explore the city, we encourage you to review some practical information before your arrival, especially if you plan to stay in Vilnius beyond the five days of the congress.

1. Getting to the City from the Airport or Train Station

Vilnius is a compact and easy-to-navigate city. Reaching the city center from the airport or railway station is simple and convenient by:

  • bus or trolleybus
  • taxi or ride-hailing services

Please note that congress participants will be able to use public transport in Vilnius free of charge throughout the event.

4. The “Vilnius Pass” Tourist Card

If you are planning to stay in the city beyond the congress, you may want to purchase the Vilnius Pass.

7. Tourist Tax

A tourist tax applies in Vilnius:
€2 per person, per night.

The fee helps support the city’s tourism infrastructure and is usually included in the accommodation price.

If you have extra time, make sure to visit Trakai – a historic town just 30 km from Vilnius, famous for its island castle and traditional Karaim pastries known as kibinai.
